Full-brick DC-DC converters for distributed power applications in communications introduced by TDK Lambda

SAN DIEGO – TDK-Lambda Americas Inc. in San Diego is introducing PH1200A280 full-brick DC-DC converters for 380-volt DC input distributed power systems using non-isolated AC-DC power supplies.

Rated at 1200 Watts with an input of 200 to 425 volts DC, the modules deliver isolated regulated 12-, 24-, 28-, 36- and 48-volt outputs.

Other applications include semiconductor fabrication, communication systems, test and measurement and custom power supplies using a power module-based solution.

The PH1200A280 is packaged in the industry-standard full-brick that measures 4.6 by 2.4 by 0.5 inches to enable low-profile designs. The modules can operate in ambient temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and baseplate temperatures from -40 up to 100 C. Efficiencies to 94 percent generate less internal waste heat, and simplify cooling using either an optional heat sink or conduction into a cold plate.

Standard features of these DC-DC converters include remote sense, remote on/off, inverter good signal, and a 10-to-14-volt auxiliary voltage. As many as 11 modules may be connected in parallel with current sharing to provide additional power.

An internal ORing FET is provided for redundant operation. The PH1200A280 has wide range output adjustment of minus 40 percent to plus 20 percent from nominal using the trim terminal for non-standard voltages.

The input to output isolation is 3,000 volts AC, input to baseplate 2,500 volts AC and the output to ground is 500 volts AC. Safety certification is to the IEC/EN/CSA/UL 62368-1 standard and has CE / UKCA markings to the low-voltage and RoHS directives.
