EDMONTON, Alberta, 6 Dec. 2005. L-3 Communications announced today that its SPAR Aerospace Limited subsidiary has been awarded a four-month, $25 million extension to its current CC130 Hercules Integrated Support Contract (ISC) by the Canadian Government.
L-3 SPAR's ISC covers a wide range of aircraft services including, aircraft structural integrity program, liaison engineering, life cycle management, avionics engineering, modification design engineering, aircraft heavy maintenance, repair and overhaul, life extension modification, fleet management software, technical publications, interactive electronic technical manual, aircraft component overhaul and logistics support.
The scope of work under the contract extension includes:
* commitments of a minimum of three aircraft to be inducted at L-3 SPAR for servicing, including one aircraft inducted at the end of November for extensive Hercules Airframe and Wiring System Refurbishment (HAWSR),
* periodics, mobile repair parties, fly-in repairs and component repairs requiring contractor support,
* continued engineering services from L-3 SPAR's Edmonton facilities and at Department of National Defence (DND) offices in Ottawa, and
* continued technical publication updates including, the Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) developed by L-3 SPAR and recently launched at DND.
L-3 SPAR will complete any aircraft work started during the contract period. This will likely result in aircraft in production at L-3 SPAR's Edmonton, Alberta facilities well into the summer of 2006.
L-3 SPAR's current CC130 Hercules ISC, which has been in place since October 2001, expires December 31, 2005, and the extension will run until April 30, 2006. L-3 SPAR and its predecessor companies have been providing aircraft repair and overhaul (R&O), maintenance and upgrade support under a variety of contracts to the Canadian Hercules fleet since 1960.
