Falcon Electric introduced lithium-ion battery support for SSG series uninterruptible power supplies

Sept. 12, 2011
IRWINDALE, Calif., 12 Sept. 2011. Falcon Electric Inc. in Irwindale, Calif., is introducing the 1500VA industrial-grade uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with lithium-ion batteries as an option. Lithium-ion batteries are lighter in weight, have longer runtimes, and higher energy density than valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries, Falcon Electric officials say. The 1500VA is part of the Falcon Electric SSG series industrial-grade UPS Plus systems. The SSG series is a true double-conversion on-line sinewave regenerative rugged UPS for military, aerospace, and industrial applications. The U.L. listed SSG series can operate in temperatures as hot as 131 degrees Fahrenheit, and is available in 1500VA, 2200VA and 3000VA configurations.

When operated in harsher temperature environments at 50 C, the projected battery life is four years.

The SSG series provides hot-swappable battery packs replaced through the UPS front panel. Falcon's UPSilon shutdown and management software supports Windows platforms including Windows 7 and server version 2008 RX, as well as Novell NetWare 5 & 6, Linux, and FreeBSD.
