Board-mount 30 Watt isolated DC/DC converters for industrial applications introduced by Murata Power

Sept. 27, 2011
MANSFIELD, Mass., 27 Sept. 2011. Murata Power Solutions Inc. in Mansfield, Mass., is introducing the ULS series of open frame, printed circuit board-mount 30 Watt isolated DC/DC converters for industrial and telecommunications applications. The power supplies have a 2:1 input voltage range of 36 to 75 volts DC, with 40 volts DC nominal. The miniature sixteenth-brick DOSA compatible converters measuring 33.27 by 23.11 by 8.13 millimeters. There are two models in the ULS series, which offer either a 12- or 15-volt-DC. The ULS-12/2.5-D48 12 volts DC output model can provide as much as 2.5 amps output and is suitable for use in regulated intermediate bus applications.

The ULS-12/2.5-D48 12 volts DC output model can provide as much as 2.5 amps output and is suitable for use in regulated intermediate bus applications. The 15 volts DC model provides as much power as 2 amps. The output may be trimmed within plus-10 to minus-20 percent of nominal voltage output to enable users to compensate for voltage losses. The series offers line and load regulation of plus-or-minus 0.125 percent for stable output without the need for any additional external components.

An on/off control input provides the choice of configuring for either negative or positive polarity. No minimum load is required.

The series is rated at 2,250 volts DC input to output isolation ensuring that the end-application is protected from spikes, transients or other noise on the input. The converters are certified to UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 2nd edition safety approvals for IT and commercial equipment. The power electronics devices operate in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.

The ULS series includes many self-protection features such as input under-voltage, output over voltage, over temperature shutdown, short-circuit and over-current hiccup auto restart. They are available in DOSA standard through-hole mount or surface mount package options.
