MILWAUKEE, Wis., 24 March 2007. LEM S.A. in Milwaukee, Wis., is adding the HASS series to its transducer families designed to operate from one 5-volt power supply (see related story).

The seven units share the same mechanical design, measuring 1.6 by 1.2 by 1.3 inches with a 0.8 by 0.4-inch aperture for the primary conductor. The transducers weigh 1.9 ounces.

A LEM ASIC designed for open-loop Hall-effect technology improves performance, including better offset and gain drifts and improved linearity, in addition to an extended operating temperature range -40 to 85 degrees Celsius compared to traditional discrete technology.

The transducers can measure DC, AC, and pulse currents, with low power consumption, while providing galvanic isolation between the primary and output circuits (see potential applications).

The internal 2.5-volt reference voltage comes on a separate contact of the Molex 5045-04A connector, or can be forced by an external reference (between 2 and 2.8 volts) for reference thermal drift cancellation. Gain and offset are fixed and set so that, at Ipn, the output voltage is equal to Ref in or Ref out ±0.625 volts.

The HASS series transducers are CE marked, conform to the EN 50178 standard (recognized for industrial applications) and are provided with a five-year warranty, as are all LEM industrial products.
