IRVINE, Calif., 2 Dec. 2005. TiaLinx, Inc. today announced that it has received a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase I award from the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA).
The objective of this program is to address feasibility of using TiaLinx's proprietary integrated RF Beamforming technology, focusing on ultra-wideband modulation operating at extreme frequencies for Giga-band signaling applications. The device will require very low power to operate and has a substantial reduction in mass and volume.
TiaLinx' high-resolution, low-power RF beamforming technology addresses applications such as early warning radar, ad hoc communication, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless connectivity, radiometry and passive-medical imaging, mobility aids for blinds, homeland security and surveillance, and collision avoidance systems.
"TiaLinx is proud to receive this Phase I SBIR award from DARPA, as it indicates the significance of the technological breakthrough that is being developed," said Fred Mohamadi, founder and CEO of TiaLinx. "TiaLinx's highly integrated beamforming technology is revolutionizing multi-discipline DOD projects while paving the road to play a key role in emerging UWB wireless communication markets."
TiaLinx, Inc. is a privately held, fabless company that develops electronic systems with very small form factor, highly integrated functionality, and advanced performance – such as wafer scale antenna arrays -- for a wide range of DOD, industrial and consumer products.
