LANSDALE, Pa., 7 April 2005. BAE Systems was recently awarded a $17.1 million contract modification for the production of six low band transmitters (LBT) for the U.S. Navy's Electronic Attack-6B Prowler (EA-6B) aircraft.

The Low Band Transmitter - Antenna Group (LBT-A/G) is a radar and communications jammer used to provide protection for strike aircraft, ships and ground troops by disrupting enemy radar and communications signals. It is one of the transmitter/antenna groups used on the Navy's tactical jamming system.

The contract modification is an option on an existing contract issued to BAE Systems in October 2004. The low band transmitters will be manufactured at BAE Systems' Lansdale, Pa., facility.

The original LBT Producibility Program was awarded to BAE Systems in October 2004 for $4 million. The recently awarded $17.1 million follow-on contract brings the total contract value to $21.1 million. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is the contracting office within the Navy responsible for administering the procurement of LBT's.

"We are excited to continue our relationship with the Navy on this project," said Scott Wolf, BAE Systems program manager. "BAE Systems has a record of benchmark performance with our DoD customers, and extended opportunities on vital programs such as LBT demonstrate our success."

BAE Systems' Electronic Attack/Electronic Surveillance product line, located at Lansdale, is a leading supplier of communications/radar jamming and radar warning/ electronic support measures (ESM) products. These systems and subsystems are functioning on the total range of tactical aircraft.
