Ka-band millimeter wave power module for military communications introduced by L-3 Electron
SAN CARLOS, Calif., 2 Dec. 2015. L-3 Electron Devices in San Carlos, Calif., is introducing the M1292-02 Ka-band millimeter wave microwave power module (MPM) for airborne Ka-band communications systems.
The M1292-02 RF and microwave device is for systems that require linear output power and high efficiency. The compact device is airborne-qualified to 50,000 feet, and enables users to mount the microwave power module closely to the transmitting aperture to minimize RF losses.
The module is reconfigurable for 100 Watts of saturated power operation, and is suitable for naval and ground applications, featuring a maximum operating temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius while operating from conventional 28-volt DC power.
The device measures 9.75 inches long by 8.5 inches wide by 1.5 inches high and weighs less than eight pounds. Optional active forced-air cooling and integrated BUC versions are in development.
