Rockwell Collins to provide radio communications gear for U.S. and Australian P-8A aircraft

LAKEHURST, N.J., 28 May 2015. U.S. Navy aircraft experts are asking Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to provide a variety of radio communications equipment for the Navy's P-8A Poseidon long-range maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft.

LAKEHURST, N.J., 28 May 2015. U.S. Navy aircraft experts are asking Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to provide a variety of radio communications equipment for the Navy's P-8A Poseidon long-range maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft.

Officials of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Lakehurst, N.J., announced a $24.8 million contract to Rockwell Collins Tuesday to provide radio communications gear for the P-8A for the U.S. Navy and for the government of Australia.

Rockwell Collins will provide 63 DF 430 aircraft direction finders, RTP 4230 radio tuner panels, and HF-121 high frequency radios, as well as assemblies, subassemblies, technical data, and support. Of this order, 47 sets are for the U.S. Navy and 16 are for Australia.

Rockwell Collins is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the DF 430 aircraft direction finder, the RTP 4230 radio tuner panel, and the HF-121 high frequency radio for use in the P-8A, Navy officials say.
