Crane qualifies MTR 50 DC-DC converters to MIL-PRF-38534 Class H military quality standard
REDMOND, Wash., 19 Oct. 2016. Power electronics experts at Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Redmond, Wash., have qualified the company's Interpoint MTR 50 series DC-DC converters to the Pentagon's MIL-PRF-38534 Class H for high-reliability flight hardware applications.
The Crane Interpoint MTR 50 series DC-DC converters all have Class H Standard Military Drawing (SMD) numbers. Class H is a standard military quality level of MIL-PRF-38534.
This performance specification for hybrid microcircuits, administered by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency's Land and Maritime segment in Columbus, Ohio, describes a standard military quality level for use in the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).
This document is a performance specification for hybrid microcircuits, multichip modules (MCM), and similar devices, and provides a manufacturing baseline to support government microcircuit applications.

Adhering to MIL-PRF-38535 Class H ensures that these devices meet performance requirements per the U.S. military's qualified manufacturing list (QML). It's an assurance of quality without additional parts tests and screening.
“Many of our customers require Class H DC-DC converters,” explains Bob Myers, Crane's senior director of modular power. “This designation assures customers that our converters are guaranteed to meet the requirements of MIL-PRF 38534 and MIL-STD-883, ensuring high reliability.”
The MTR 50 series converters feature a 16-to-50-volt input and single and dual outputs with as much as 81 percent efficiency. They are isolated using magnetic feedback, have inhibit and synchronization functions, and operate over a temperature range of -55 to 125 degrees Celsius.
The MTR 50 They are available in flanged or non-flanged hermetically sealed cases with 11 different output voltages. For more information contact Crane Aerospace & Electronics online at www.craneae.com.
