Modular, lightweight camera for machine vision in industrial applications introduced by Teledyne FLIR

RICHMOND, British Columbia – Teledyne FLIR IIS in Richmond, British Columbia, is introducing the modular, compact, and lightweight Dragonfly S USB3 cameras for machine vision applications in at-scale manufacturing, volume-based, and multi-camera applications.

Dragonfly S has a modular design to accelerate the inception stage of imaging application development for industrial and non-industrial uses.

The cameras are for embedded or handheld device applications such as biometrics kiosk solutions, ophthalmoscopy, 3D scanning, and automated optical inspection. It is available in several configurations, from board-level to a enclosed module in a ruggedized aluminum case.

The USB connector comes in rear- or side locations with screw-in locking mechanism for tight spaces. The cased models are Class B EMC safety compliant. An onboard image buffer ensures that every captured image frame transfers to the host CPU.
