Newly created Raytheon Technologies to focus on hypersonics, cyber security, avionics, and directed energy

WALTHAM, Mass. – Executives of the Raytheon Co. in Waltham Mass. and United Technologies Corp. in Farmington, Conn., have completed an all-stock merger to form a new company called Raytheon Technologies Corp., one of the largest aerospace and defense companies in the world.

The new company, to be headquartered in Waltham, Mass., will have a New York Stock Exchange ticker symbol of RTX. The merger follows spinoffs of former United Technologies Carrier and Otis businesses.the company has 195,000 employees and $74 billion in net sales.

Raytheon Technologies comprises four businesses: avionics designer Collins Aerospace Systems in Charlotte, N.C.; jet engine designer Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn.; Raytheon Intelligence & Space in Arlington, Va.; and Raytheon Missiles & Defense in Tucson, Ariz.

The new company has expertise in quantum physics, electric propulsion, directed energy, hypersonics, avionics, and cyber security.

Collins Aerospace Systems specializes in aerostructures, avionics, interiors, mechanical systems, mission systems, and power controls for commercial, regional, and business aviation, as well for military applications.

Pratt & Whitney designs, manufactures, and services aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems for commercial, military, and business aircraft.

Raytheon Intelligence & Space specializes in developing advanced sensors, training, cyber security, and software solutions. Raytheon Missiles & Defense provides technologies to detect, track, and engage aircraft and missile threats.
