Raytheon to create dismount detection radar system

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Feb. 4, 2012. Raytheon [NYSE: RTN] was awarded a $76.6 million cost-plus-incentive-fee cost reiumbursement contract to develop, design, build, test, integrate, certify and deliver four dismount detection radar systems (DDRS).

Raytheon [NYSE: RTN] was awarded a $76.6 million cost-plus-incentive-fee cost reiumbursement contract to develop, design, build, test, integrate, certify and deliver four dismount detection radar systems (DDRS). The DDRS will be capable of finding, tracking, and identifying vehicles and infantry. The system will interface with the Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AF DCGS) and will feature an open system architecture to allow for future modifications. The DDRS will be externally integrated onto the Block V variant of the MQ-9 Reaper UAV. The contract plans to have testing begin by 2014, with all work being completed by March 30, 2015. Work on this contract will be performed by Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems at their headquarters in El Segundo, Calif.
