Officials of FreeWave Technologies in Boulder, Colo., are introducing the FGRplus digital radio system for systems integrators who need an industrial-grade high-speed Ethernet radio that operates in harsh and challenging RF environments. The FGRplus supports TCP, industrial grade wireless security and serial communications, all in one package. The radio has Class 1, Div 2 UL approval. The radio, which is primarily for digital data links for instrumentation information and command-and-control commands, has a frequency range of 902 to 928 MHz, output power of 5 millivolts to 1 volt, a line-of-sight range of 60 miles, features hopping patterns of 15 per band-or 105 total hopping patterns that are user selectable. Data transmission features error detection, data encryption, authentication, and Ethernet data interface, protocol, and data connector. FreeWave digital radios see extensive military use on unmanned aerial vehicles, and commercial use in the oil and gas business where they provide wireless links to line flow information and well commands.
