Australian army chooses Elbit to supply soldier-launchable surveillance UAVs

HAIFA, Israel, 3 Aug. 2008. Elbit Systems Ltd. in Haifa, Israel is supplying the Australian army with Skylark I unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems for several million dollars for these pilotless surveillance aircraft, Elbit officials say. It is Australia's third Skylark order.

The Skylark I mini-UAV system is a man-pack configuration for day and night observation and data collection from distances as far away as six to ten miles. Soldiers in the field are able to launch the unmanned aircraft.
