Radio communication, radar, and electronic warfare systems provide critical information to military forces. Defense radar and communications use 2 GHz to 18 GHz and higher radar bands while Ka‐band radars operate in the 26–40 GHz range. Converting wideband analog signals to digital ones (and vice-versa) traditionally required several analog and electronic components but direct RF eliminates this need. This white paper discusses new direct RF technology, explores its capabilities and applications, and explains how this open technology can transform defense platforms.
