    Avionics upgrade completed by Rockwell Collins on C-130 for Republic of Singapore air force

    CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa 10 Nov. 2010. The first of ten C-130 aircraft to be modernized with Rockwell Collins communications, navigation, and surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) technology has been delivered to the Republic of Singapore air force (RSAF). The company's Flight2 cockpit upgrade delivered by ST Aerospace provides the RSAF C-130s with a state-of-the-art flight deck and improved situational awareness.

The first of ten C-130 aircraft to be modernized with Rockwell Collins communications, navigation, and surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) technology has been delivered to the Republic of Singapore air force (RSAF). The company's Flight2 cockpit upgrade delivered by ST Aerospace provides the RSAF C-130s with a state-of-the-art flight deck and improved situational awareness. "Rockwell Collins has provided excellent support to ST Aerospace throughout the avionics integration effort, which has enabled the team to deliver an effective and reliable system to the RSAF within a challenging project schedule," says Lim Serh Ghee, chief operating officer and president, Defense Business for ST Aerospace. Key capabilities provided in the upgrade include: a flight management system upgrade allowing access to precision GPS approaches, preferred air traffic control routings and search and rescue patterns; multi-function displays featuring active matrix liquid crystal display technology; central engine instrument display replacing analog gauges; improved voice communication; digital autopilot and flight director upgrade; and advanced digital weather radar upgrade. "With this upgrade, the RSAF gains a modern digital cockpit enabling greater mission effectiveness for their C-130 fleet and providing them with access to global airspace," says Dave Nieuwsma, vice president and general manager of Mobility and Rotary Wing Solutions for Rockwell Collins. ST Aerospace (Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd) is the aerospace arm of ST Engineering.
