Kontron also will provide a wireless in-seat display. The Lufthansa Systems BoardConnect is a wireless audio and video on-demand system that enables airlines to interact with passengers to provide in-flight entertainment, such as movies, games, and moving maps. Kontron has developed broadband wireless systems for commercial aircraft.Kontron developed a modular cabin wireless access point unit that weighs about four pounds. The certified wireless access point is two-thirds of the weight, size, and cost of available alternatives, Kontron officials say.

BoardConnect helps airliner passengers access information and entertainment using Wi-Fi-enabled personal electronic devices or the Kontron-developed in-seat display unit. Integrated into seat backs, the display unit is an all wireless system that does not require data wiring. It supports passenger interfaces such as USB, analog video, and touchscreen.
