Sirius Aviation and Marathon Group team up to deliver hydrogen tech to Australian airports

SYDNEY - Sirius Aviation AG in Baar, Switzerland announced a partnership with Marathon Group Australia in Sydney to develop zero-emission airports and integrate cutting-edge hydrogen technologies. The collaboration will focus on deploying the Sirius Jet, a hydrogen-powered VTOL aircraft developed with Designworks, a BMW Group company.

"Partnering with Marathon Group is a major leap in transforming aviation with hydrogen technologies," said Alexey Popov, CEO of Sirius Aviation AG. "Our efforts will set new benchmarks in sustainability and significantly reduce carbon emissions."

The partnership will involve the development of hydrogen storage and refueling systems. This includes creating mobile hydrogen transportable liquidation and refueling units to address diverse infrastructure needs and expand the capabilities of hydrogen use in aviation.

Plans also include the establishment of zero-emission airports. By combining expertise in innovative technologies and infrastructure, and working with global partners, the two companies aim to transform airport operations and reduce emissions within the aviation sector.

The Sirius Jet will be deployed for various uses, including cargo transport and air ambulance services. With its low noise and zero emissions, the aircraft offers both environmental and commercial benefits, positioning it as a key player in the shift toward sustainable aviation.

To support these advancements, comprehensive training programs will be launched. These programs are intended to build expertise in hydrogen technologies and promote ongoing innovation in the aviation industry.

Additionally, the partnership will focus on integrating hydrogen production with solar and wind energy projects in regional areas. This effort will enhance renewable energy synergies, helping to support Australia’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions.
