Gogo and Skyservice announce 5G STC development partnership

Gulfstream G280 and Embraer Legacy 450/500 TCCA STC Issued; Securing FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) validations for three additional aircraft models.

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Gogo Business Aviation in Broomfield, Colo. announced a partnership with Skyservice Business Aviation, a Toronto-based business aviation company, to develop Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) from Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for Gogo 5G on six aircraft models.

Gogo's 5G network aims to enhance inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) for North American operators, supported by more than 159 air-to-ground (ATG) sites, including nine in Canada, as the company continues expanding its coverage in the region.

Skyservice, a Gogo authorized dealer, is developing Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for Gogo 5G across several in-service aircraft, including the Gulfstream G280, Embraer Legacy 450/500, Cessna Citation CJ3/3+, Bombardier Challenger 300/350, Bombardier Challenger 604/605, and Cessna Citation X. While Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) has issued STCs for several aircraft, and FAA validation is pending for some models.

Once available, the 5G service will require the installation of Gogo's AVANCE L5 system and two MB13 phased-array antennas. Operators will also have the option to upgrade to the AVANCE LX5 system, which is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2025.
