META-DX2C retimer uses long-reach 112G SerDes to help design thin and long active electrical cables for dense hyperscaler infrastructure buildouts.

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Microchip Technology Inc. in Chandler, Ariz., is introducing the META-DX2C 800G retimer for high-speed connections in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning applications.

The retimer has a hardware reference design and common management interface specification (CMIS) software to minimize development resources necessary for cable manufacturers.

The META-DX2C retimer uses high-performance long-reach 112G SerDes that can support as much as 40 decibel reach to help design thin and long active electrical cables for dense hyperscaler infrastructure buildouts.

Microchip also offers a validated paddle card reference design and a software package that implements the CMIS software in a Microchip 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller.

Microchip's META-DX2C compact retimer also can solve similar connectivity challenges in high-capacity data center switches and routers where high density and data rates create signal integrity problems.

Microchip's META-DX2C 800G active electrical cables also have a paddle card reference design that includes the META-DX2C retimer, PIC32 microcontroller, oscillators, buck regulator, and linear voltage regulator.
