High-speed single-fiber optical transceiver with 20-kilometer links introduced by Integra Optics

July 26, 2024
Transceiver can bypass external WDM equipment in the network architecture, with an upgrade path from GPON to XGS-PON without infrastructure changes.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Integra Optics, an Infinite Electronics brand in Albany, N.Y., is introducing the SFP+ 10/2.5 G BiDi 20km XGSPON OLT transceiver for XG/XGS-PON 10- and 2.5-gigabit applications like broadband access and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks, among other high-speed optical link applications.

The transceiver offers 20-kilometer links, and can bypass external WDM equipment in the network architecture. It also offers network providers an upgrade path from GPON (lower data rates) to XGS-PON (up to 10 G) without necessitating changes to the underlying infrastructure.

Key benefits include its 20-kilometer reach over single-mode fiber at 10 and-2.5 gigabits per second, and operations in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.

The digital diagnostic interface of the optical transceiver aligns with the QSFP28 Multi-Source Agreement (MSA). Using one strand of fiber instead of two helps reduce network complexity and costs.
