Rugged computer designer and manufacturer Getac is introducing the S410 rugged laptop computer for outdoor applications subject to shock, vibration, and environmental extremes. The laptop has the footprint of a business notebook computer but with the features of a full-rugged device.
The rugged laptop resists the effects of dust and water ingress, and 3-foot drops. It has a hot-swappable battery, a high-visibility touchscreen that works when using gloves or while wet, quality antenna, communications capability, and GPS.
The S410 has a IP51 rating for dust and rain, and is certified to MIL-STD 810G; it has a wide operating range for hot and cold climates; is built with composite materials; has a splash-proof keyboard; rugged I/O door; flexible and durable handle; and rubber bumper and footpad with ventilation.
The S410 integrates the Intel 14-nanometer Skylake U-Series CPUs; Intel’s latest Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260; improved RF coexistence and Windows 10 support. The laptop has enough battery to support a day’s shift.

The laptop computer weighs 5 pounds, measures 1.5 inches wide, , and has a touch screen with glove and pen models. It also has optional RF triple pass-through; vehicle dock, and vibration resistance.
I/O options include a docking connector slot, USB 3.0 connectivity and expansion bay for PCMCIA. The laptop also offers multi-factor authentication as well as capacitive fingerprint touch technology. As much as 1 terabyte of memory is available.
