Boeing Commercial Airplanes had delivered the Boeing 777-200ER long-range,wide-body, twin-enginejet airliner ( registration HL7742) to Asiana Airlines in March 2006. The passenger aircraft, powered by two Pratt & WhitneyPW4090 engines, reportedly had achieved roughly 36,000 flight hours and 5,000 takeoff-and-landing cycles at the time of the crash.
