French ANSP selects Searidge Remote Tower for remote management of Miquelon airport
WORLD ATM CONGRESS, MADRID, 9 March 2016. Officials at Direction des Services de la Navigation Aérienne (DSNA) – the agency in charge of air traffic control, communication, and information for France – sought to increase the efficiency of Saint-Pierre (FSP) and Miquelon (MQC) airports. They found their solution at Searidge Technologies, global provider of Remote Tower and airport surface optimization solutions to air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and airports, in Nepean, Ontario, Canada.
DSNA officials selected the Searidge Remote Tower platform to improve the efficiency of managing the Miquelon airport by enabling operations from MQC to be remoted to FSP.
"Searidge's experience in remotely managing airports of different sizes and topographies was a key differentiator in the selection process," says Luc Collet, head of air traffic control, Direction des Services de la Navigation Aérienne. "The flexibility of the system, quality of video, and versatility of the interface will give our Controllers enhanced views of the surface, enabling them to effectively manage traffic in all weather conditions."
The Searidge Remote Tower platform features an advanced human machine interface (HMI), completely customized to DSNA's requirements. High-definition day/night visible, thermal, and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras will be installed at MQC to display real-time information to air traffic controllers at FSP.

Video images from distributed cameras will be stitched together and run through sophisticated algorithms to offer a seamless panoramic view of the surface and approach path, presented on 4K-resolution displays that feature touch screen zoom in/out options.
"Using our technology platform and working closely with DSNA and their Controllers, we are able to offer a system that specifically addresses their requirements," says Alex Sauriol, chief technology officer, Searidge Technologies. "Our collaboration allows us to deliver a solution that is in-line with what Controllers need and want to use to ensure safety and operationally efficiency."
Searidge provides Remote Tower and Surface Optimization solutions to airports and air navigation service providers (ANSPs) worldwide. Using video-based technology, Searidge gives operators "eyes" where they could not previously see, helping them monitor, manage, and control traffic on the airport surface to improve safety and efficiency.
With technology at over 30 sites in 16 countries, Searidge video is viewed by the most air traffic control officers (ATCOs) and airport operations personnel worldwide, according to officials.
